Rubik's Cube Cheat Sheet

Every algorithm in the beginner Layer-by-Layer method, grouped by step.

Notation: R L U D F B turn each face clockwise. A prime (′) means counter-clockwise, and a 2 means a half (180°) turn. y rotates the whole cube. Full reference in the notation guide.

Step 1 · Make a Daisy Flower

Hold yellow on top. Lift the four white edges up around the yellow centre so they form a daisy.

Step 2 · Make the White Cross

Turn each daisy petal until its side colour matches the centre below it, then drop it straight down onto the white face.

Step 3 · First Layer Corners

One algorithm for the whole step: the Rightie. Position a white corner above its empty front-right slot, between its two matching edges, then repeat until it drops in solved - white on the side needs 1, white on top 3, white in front 5. A corner stuck in the wrong slot? One Rightie pops it back to the top.

Step 5 · Yellow Cross

Repeat up to 3 times, re-holding the cube between each go, until the top edges form a yellow cross.

Step 6 · Yellow Face (Sune)

Repeat up to 4 times until the whole top face is yellow. You go 0 → 2 → 1 → solved corners, re-holding by the top-left corner between each.

Step 7 · Corner Permutation (T-Perm)

Align two matching corners (headlights) on the left, then execute.

Step 8 · Edge Permutation (Ua-Perm)

Put a solved edge at the back, then execute once or twice.
