What is Ortega?

Ortega is the beginner 2x2 method: build one face, orient the last-layer corners (OLL), then permute both layers at once (PBL). This trainer drills its 15 cases, which is the method's whole algorithm count.

New to 2x2? Start with the orientation cases: most people have all seven within an afternoon. The permutation cases are what finishes the solve, and the group cards above drill either half on its own.

Frequently asked questions

How do I practice Ortega algorithms?
Pick which cases to drill, then one of two modes: Flashcard (see the case, recall the algorithm) or Scramble (set the case up on your own 2x2 and solve it). The trainer serves the cases you are still learning, the ones you fail and the slow ones more often than the ones you already know.
How many Ortega algorithms are there?
There are 15 Ortega cases in all, orientation and permutation together, which is why it is the first real 2x2 method most people learn.
How does the trainer know which Ortega cases I know?
From the status you give each algorithm in the Ortega database: Not known, Failing, Learning, Getting there or Muscle Memory. Filter the drill by status to practice only the cases you are learning, and update a status as it changes.
